let's go ahead with an outline and a 1st draft review by Art, Serf, and myself. Fringe is welcome to review as well.
That's fine with me. But what does 2-3 pages mean? I'll need a word count. Depending on font and line spacing, 2-3 pages could be almost anything. It'd be better if I could talk the editor into offering another couple of pages, but that might not be on the cards. I think it'd be better to run it as a feature article than as an op-ed piece, but again, we'll see.
Just think how difficult it would be to explain this story in, say, 1500 words, no matter how much of the detail you'd leave out.
I'd also need some help from people here. I want a good grasp of the various responses people got from the SEC, the NASD, and the brokerages, so that I could use representative samples to show just how they were NOT on the same page. If I'm really gonna do this, I'll ask at the appropriate moment for people to send me copies. I won't need their names; just the names of their brokerages, the dates, and the text.
IF I can say I'm writing an article for Rolling Stone, I may be able to get some responses from the folks at the SEC, the NASD, and DTCC. Though frankly I'd be expecting a "no comment".
