Regarding 1) whether we can find out if the SEC has approved the S4 filing; I don't believe the SEC makes an indication on their website. It could be worth a call to them to try to find out, but in my experience they won't comment on the filings specifically, but only in a general fashioin.
2)It's my understanding that q/p is still in effect; sent an email inquiry so will post if anything different is indicated.
