I saw that article, and there is a danger that information like this can be used by penny miner stocks to pump their "mines". Yes, there are low-grade "halo's" around old mines that might now be minable. And yes, there might be dumps that could be reworked. But it takes some pretty special economics to make a 0.007 oz/ton gold deposit worthwhile!

More importantly, there are also new environmental regulations and other impediments to development that may not have existed 20 or 30 years ago. And mining costs have certainly gone up immensely as well. The big picture must be taken into account.
