Either borrow money or be born with it waiting for you to spend. While Rod apparently received an inheritance from his grandfather or father, it was not sufficient to fund the development of SIRG's copper mine. His grandfather founded Martin Tools Company but the Chinese made cheaper tools and they could not compete.
At least we know SIRG does not have to compete with the Chinese in the production of copper.
