Re: You've already stated your belief that INTC is soon going to catch up to AMD in the design area. And you have mentioned more than once that you think INTC has solved the design problems that lead to the process problems. Further you seem to believe that all the INTC minions will remain DELL-like loyal no matter what happens.

Frankly, I find it touchingly naive to expect that one of the three assumptions will prove correct let alone all three. But then you guys have your own world you live in so anything is possible.

At least I have data to back myself up. Intel's 65nm specifications are already available to an extent, and they far exceed what AMD has similarly announced. Intel's process is and has been better, and in a field where billions of dollars are necessary to go forward in technology, Intel is the best one poised to succeed.

Intel's designs will also undoubtably improve. Intel's Pentium M design has already proved that they are capable of designing low power products with performance in the same range as Athlon 64. And given some specs that are already public info, it looks like Intel's next micro-architecture has every chance of being even more successful.

As for customers remaining loyal, they have every reason to do so. Switching suppliers is never the preferred solution. Don't you understand that AMD's success this year - all their market share growth and high ASP - has been due to a major mistep in Intel's planning to not be prepared for the dual core transition in servers? AMD has milked this for all it's been worth, but the gains will be temporary. You are the one who is touchingly naive if you think that HP and others will continue adding Opteron design wins after Intel responds with a more competitive solution.
