We spent winter month or two on Padre Island a few years ago, so my geography maybe slightly askew. There are platforms all along that coast up to Port Aransas and beyond. They were building the new bay opening and seawall right above our condo.

Great place, unreal wildlife, fishing and winter beach-combing just south.
