Who cares if they ban melatonin. Kava or Kava Kava is much better and it is not even in Koma Unwind. They could easily replace the melatonin with Kava root liquid herbal extract.

FYI

Whatever admistration it was in 1994 i think was imposing the FDA to prove that melatonin was unsafe ...

"Last week, FDA spokesman Don Aird said that the agency has received no complaints about negative side-effects from melatonin and is not planning to challenge its status. "

Go Koma Unwind Go

Melatonin isn't going anywhere anytime soon. This has and always will be used as a food additive AND a dietary supplement.

I'm sorry, but you are wrong. Melatonin cannot legally be used as a food additive, since it is not GRAS. (Generally Regarded As Safe) A conventional food containing Melatonin is considered 'adulterated' and can be seized from shelves. At least one manufacturer has already been officially warned about this:

Products like Koma Unwind currently exploit a loophole which allows Melatonin as a food additive by simply labeling a product packaged as a conventional food with the words 'Dietary Supplement'. US Senate Bill S.1310, which you can read here ( http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/112/s1310/text ) is aimed at defining which packaging constitutes 'conventional food' and would close the loophole Koma Unwind currently enjoys. This bill is currently in committee. That doesn't guarantee its passage by any means, but it is in the system. The last paragraph is the relevant one.

Another good and informative article about it can be found here:

Another article can be found on Bevnet, which mentions something I have been saying for years: If people start consuming this stuff freely, it won't be long before someone falls asleep at the wheel as a result. When that happens, look for efforts to regulate, curtail or even ban the sale of products containing Melatonin as conventional food items to suddenly become a lot louder:
