That is true with a lot of brokerages, but not all, and those rules apply to retail customers at those brokerages.

I've never heard that before, and know for a fact that MMs simply LOVE market orders in the pinks. Nowhere can they make better money than on a market order on a pink.

Perhaps that's why a market order is second in stupidity only to stop loss orders.

No. Not true. You can not place a market order but you can change an existing limit to a market order. A stop loss order becomes a market when the stop is hit.
