Is it possible that they have been getting numerous calls and don't have the time to answer IR questions. It was sales dept.

Maybe it's much easier to just say no R/M or not going public.

After all if the merger does take place then that would not be considered insider info but rather the person was just wrong. But on the other hand if he said merger is a go then it's considered insider info and could bring on serious repercussions.
