Did Mitt Romney Take the 2009 Swiss Bank Account Amnesty
Why not release a nice even five years of tax data? Perhaps because of something that happened in 2009.
Wealthy U.S. taxpayers, concerned about an Internal Revenue Service crackdown on the use of overseas bank accounts as tax havens, rushed to meet a deadline to disclose those accounts to avoid possible criminal prosecution.

If Romney's name is on this list, obviously that info would not have been available to John McCain in 2008. Is this the reason Romney is unwilling to release more than 2 years of his tax returns now? To chose 2 years seems odd - why not an even number, i.e. five years, ten years.

Romney continues to say he "paid all appropriate taxes"...if he was granted Amnesty in 2009, he would have been required by the IRS to file amended tax retusns and pay all back taxes. So, technically Romney is correct now when he now says he "paid all appropriate taxes". But for good reasons Romney doesn't want voters to know the circumstances under which he "paid all apparopriate taxes".
