We could be seeing someone accumulating shares as cheap as possible. Who knows. I know if I wanted to take a big position I would not toss out a huge order. I would slowly pick them up over days or weeks getting the best price I could.
Good point. With only orders of 5000 or more showing, there are often leftover partials and <5000 orders lurking between the posted bid and ask. Also, all or none orders don't show. So, perhaps the large bid stepped on one of these little positions.
Skulbone mentioned he was checking for cheapies by moving a small order from the best bid on up in 0.5c increments -- clever strategy IMHO.
