I've seen price targets surpassed many times. When the market gets going, sometimes there's no stopping it. Of course, a lot of times, it goes a little bit too crazy, and that's the time to think things over.
Those 12 month price targets, strangely enough, don't often remain for 12 months. They usually change every three months, so what's the point of calling them 12 month price targets?
