I don't understand. Assuming the seller sold covered calls, he cannot realize the profits until the option expire under $4, right ? So this is still an 'unrealized' gain..

yes, and he may have such a lg position at such a low price that he doesn't mind letting go the shares if they are called, which is a big if imo.

So I stupidly bought some 3.5 calls today, and already lost 15%. I think they will do fine though, once we get through this down time!
