"It did not disturb much Intel could not even make the client silicon of it initially for Centrino but had to buy it from Philips."

Ah kpf, you are using facts in a discussion about religous idealogy. Mere facts pale in the presence of such fervor...

Face it, the new meme is that WiFi was going nowhere until Intel unveiled Centrino and its marketing campaign. Notebooks had a near zero attach rate for 802.11 until Centrino pushed the market. Apparently if you are under the impression that you could easily get a notebook with integrated WiFi before Centrino came out, you are mistaken. That couldn't have been possible.

Intel and Centrino created the market.

WTF are you talking about? laurels on who's head? All I said was, Centrino was a good marketing idea and it helped spur people to think about mobility and for the person/company who doesn't want to bother with a lot of crap, they can get a "centrino" it's Intel certified. It's truly amazing to me how amdsters just can't stand it if Intel makes money on a good marketing idea.

It comes as a surprise to AMD investors that Intel can take an idea and make money with it. So AMD now has turdion, they copied... so what, I don't give a crap if they copy intel and make money, that is what business is, making money.

Who cares where Intel bought their silicon from? We are talking about selling chips with the "centrino" brand that Intel makes money on.. good for them and I hope it keeps working, I'm going to buy a centrino this week from HP. I don't need any 64bits, I want mobility. To each his own.
