daudah - on a quick perusal of the specs, the Scientrex product doesn't say it can detect PETN explosive, which has been the preferred material terrorists have tried to bring on airplanes. It might detect them but it doesn't say it can. The Quantum Sniffer does. The Scientrex product intake and analysis time seems to approach one minute when combined. Implant's device is considerably faster (8 seconds), which is important for throughput of packages. Implant's new device is a "benchtop" model for cargo screening, Scientrex is a handheld (which does compete with Implant's handheld device). Scientrex is a Canadian company (not that this is a big problem) and Implant is a U.S. company. But perhaps the biggest difference is that the Scientrex product is not in the final stage of Transportation Security Administration testing and approval.
Just my 2c.
nonetheless, interesting find.
