No, a discovery is a discovery. It may be later deemed too small or too difficult to produce to be commercial, but it is still a discovery. It may be commercial stand-alone, or only commercial tied into other infrastructure. But still a discovery.

Here Obo-1 is called a discovery first sentence. Then in second sentence not a discovery?


OBO-1 was a non-commercial discovery for the partners involved. It was NOT a discovery. -midtieroil

It is easy to confuse the terminology Discovery with Commercial for those without significant knowledge of off-shore oil and gas drilling.

JDZ-2 was termed a gas discovery. Equator claims it is not commercial. Should there be a FLNG or pipeline nearby at some point, it could become commercial.

That's argumentative at best since commerciality is a relative term and ofc could only have been determined by Chevron after drilling appraisal wells.
