Thanks Sweden 1 - Right enough I did not mention water saturation but that is a difficult one as I understand it can vary between 5% for highly permeable quality reservoir sands to 50%+ for tight poor quality reservoir formations. My proposed 20% porosity figure should take account of the water saturation if the 23-29% log-derived figure is representative. Not sure why they propose using a cone to calculate total volume of oil in place - surely you would use the best estimated actual dimensions to calculate total oil in place. True enough we cannot expect to produce all the oil in the reservoir - this will depend on the reservoir drive, pressure and production rate etc but with enhanced recovery etc we might expect up to 70% recovery in a good quality reservoir (which this appears to be) with light oil of this density, depending on the viscosity of course (this being a waxy crude).
