Bethesda-based USEC Inc. will move forward with development of its next-generation uranium enrichment facility in Ohio, with a $280 million investment from the Department of Energy.
USEC, which faced shutting down the American Centrifuge project without new funding, will invest another $70 million in the project, bringing new research and development funding to a total of $350 million. USEC and DOE will initially put up $110 million to keep the project running through November.
