I don’t believe that most traders understand that if an MM sales shares that they don’t have physical possession of the transaction is recorded as a short sale and when said MM gives said shares to the buyer that it is recorded as a cover.

So when someone posts the total short #’s for the day these trades are also in the total #’s unless the stock is restricted to a trade for trade by the sec.
