death: True Conservative:
I am a Reagan conservative. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean that Reagan would have lost any sleep over some black people on roofs in New Orleans. Maybe he would have and maybe he would not have. I actually have no idea or opinion on it. But, many of the things that Reagan stood for have been GROSSLY abandoned by the current "conservative" leadership.
I have posted these before and I'm a little too tired to look them up right this minute - besides, I have a pizza with my name on it cooling as I type. However among the issues that Reagan stood for were strict control of our borders (how's that going?), a policy of noninterventionism (how's that going?), a smaller government (how's that going?) and a balanced budget - meaning no deficit spending. I don't even NEED to ask how that is going!
This President has abandoned many conservative principles IMO. The fact that he has yet (to date) not vetoed a single spending bill in 5 years is so unbelievable that it defies comprehension. He has ZERO urgency for fiscal responsibility which is Verse 1, Chapter 1 in the conservative handbook and I'm sure Ronald Reagan is rolling over in his grave.
