Because we want an educated populace....one that can compete in the 21st century. It's not enough to only send rich kids to college. Why do we have to rape them along the way?

If you feel that way, why stop at a 6% interest rate? Why not charge 10 or 20 percent? Where do you draw the line? When is enough, enough?
