Seems a buncha foreign countries are making contributions to help out the Gulf Coast devastated by Katrina. That is good, I think.

In the meanwhile, though, watch that small disturbance over the Bahamas. That is where Katrina was born. The Gulf waters are still very warm.

They need to add about ten feet to all the levees around New Orleans. The levee around lake okeechobee prolly is not high enough, either. There is a history of thousands being drowned south of that big lake.

A type 4 or 5 hurricane hitting the Savannah coast at high tide could generate a forty foot high tidal surge, running up the river. This would drown most of Savannah and environs. Tybee Island would be completely covered with water, over the rooftops. The Counter-clockwise winds would feed the ocean directly up the savannah river estuary. Lots of lowland marshes around Savannah.

They do have a good evacuation route and plan. The Interstate
highway would be closed to eastbound traffic, and all six lanes used for leaving town. Those w/o transportation can ride the busses and trains outa town.
