Any reason why this would be specific to type 1 diabetes vs other autoimmune conditions?

Enhancing a naturally occurring immune signalling mechanism like this has always seemed to me the way to go in dealing with autoimmune diseases. Might not produce dramatic results, but much less likely to produce serious side effects a la Tysabri.
