saw the same
and that was in the late 60's...around '69 as I recall

the other is getting sick on candy when you had a quarter
and had plenty to share and had left overs
and you didn't even want to see any candy for a week

and when you went to the store you could buy the best apples one at a time and you were full after eating one of those high priced fine monsters that were .05 each
they were top of the line

I remember those gas wars. The day before I left to go into the military, I was pumping regular for 24.9 a gallon. Regular price was about 32.9 at that time.

Of course, the car I drove got 8 MPG ... I preferred to measure it in "Fun per gallon" rather than miles. LOL

When I was sixteen years old I could get a gallon of high-octane Premium gasoline and pack of Salem cigarettes for the same price; $0.31.
