A farmer sows seeds on his farm one spring, takes care watering them and cultivating the plants that result. Just before the plants bear fruit, the farmer passes away and the farm is abandoned. Along comes some passerby's who see the vegetables maturing on the vines. They know the place is void of an owner so they help them selves to the bounty.
According to the left's logic, the passerby's were responsible for the vegetables being available for them. The truth is the former farmer was responsible, for it not for his hard work? The passerby's' would not have had their windfall.
