If Payne tries to get case it signifies that MacGuire/Woods is the source of the corruption, not Va. Infinion factory, Va politics etc.
Samsung is trying IFX strategy which should fail IF Payne's motivation was IFX based (ie. local politics). But if Payne was paid off by his old lawfirm, Sammie might try to get same court entree as IFX.

Several have floated the theory that Payne would "invite" Samsung into his court and blast them as a favor to IFX. This seems too far fetched and something Samsung would be aware of ahead of time. After all, IFX is a competitor.

My hunch is that Payne wants nothing to do with this case and will gladly let California deal with it. Even if Payne takes case it shouldn't be too big of a problem because it involves only a few patents and not the whole patent magilla that is in the California trial. It's possible that Samsung is trying to develop a "bargaining chip" in case of a Ca. loss.
