Dead right! The difference between the cost of production (in silkworms) in China or India and in the US is trivial compared to the difference in the cost of production in any of those places and the potential sale price.

A very high value high tech product with, as you noted, NO competitors is going to have a very high profit margin. Enough so that the difference in productions costs in various countries will be "lost in the noise".

It may turn out that security is deemed more important than the cost difference. (or not).
