Both this article and the article yesterday “Flarion acquisition ignites old debate” point out the advantages of two alternative technologies (F-OFDM and UMTS TD-CDMA) over the more hyped WiMAX” .
Interesting also, as yesterday’s article revealed, Qualcomm is the benefactor in both of these WiMAX alternatives.
1. F-OFDM via the Flarion acquisition. 2. UMTS TD-CDMA- ......To be implemented in conjunction with WCDMA networks ......Q’s License with UTStarcom Inc. probably includes UMTS TD-CDMA equipment although IPWireless is not listed as a Q licensee yet , probably needs one soon.
