Exactly what I was thinking! They are basically telling them how they should be doing their job. This usually doesn't go over well in business, especially with government agencies. Seems like a pretty risky strategy to me.

IMO I seriously doubt Schumer letter will have any impact whatsoever.

IMHO I would be very surprised if the response from the DOT did not address the concerns of the Congressional delegate who has made the inquiry. The DOT is responsive to these inquiries, and have historically inspired the FAA to move forward.

I was Director of Operations for an Air Carrier out west 9.5 years ago who had difficulty in getting their local Flight Standards District Office to support their application for a change to their certificate and meet the requirements of one of their certification processes. A discussion with a senior Senator from that state who was on the Aviation Sub-Committee, resulted in that Senator making an inquiry at the DOT. By week's end, the FSDO moved forward in working with the carrier. The carrier achieved its objective, and is still in business and growing.

The response from the DOT historically has been simply that they get on with doing their job.

IMHO Baltia will move forward soon.
