LONDON — New Visual Corporation, which has been in stealth mode while developing a Layer 1 transport processor targeting very high data rate communications, said it expects to be sampling its first device by the end of this year.

The company’s main partner in the development of the Embarq technology — which is claimed to reach farther and faster on a single pair of unshielded twisted pair copper than competitors’ offerings for VDSL, VDSL2 and ADSL2+ networks, with a data throughput of 100Mbit/s — is design company HelloSoft Inc.

Earlier this year, following completion of the first phase of the processor development, New Visual (Portland, Ore.) amended its agreement with HelloSoft that defines and prices the next two phases of the technology development.

The company is investing $445,000 on Phase II and $350,000 on Phase III. Half of Phase II, has already been paid to HelloSoft in the form of restricted common stock, and the other $222,500 will be paid in cash on completion.

Phase III will see a product in its beta form, and both HelloSoft (San Jose, Calif.) and New Visual says this will occur in the fourth quarter of 2005.

"Based on our experience in telecom chipsets, we feel that this project is well within our ability to deliver on-time and on-budget," stated Ron Victor, General Manager of HelloSoft.

HelloSoft, which currently employs 130 people, has recently dedicated a team of digital signal processing hardware, software and management engineers both in San Jose and in its development center in Hyderabad, India to the commercialization of Embarq.

In June 2005, New Visual raised a further $3.5 million from private and institutional investors. The money is earmarked for competing the development of the chips and to commence production and commercialization.

bobide 1, many thanks for that fine pickup of Hellosoft's news page. It is nice to see that this info is finding its way into recognized forums(e.g., the web news sites which ran the news) in the telecom field. The material will certainly open some eyes which have been averted until they (HelloSoft) came along, at the very least. I've sent this material to several people who asked me to tell them when NVEI gets the chip. And so it goes...
