Can Text-blocking Reduce Distracted Driving Car Accidents?

Text-Blocking Technology

Some cell phone manufacturers and mobile network providers are trying new text-blocking technology that will disable a cell phone’s texting capability in a moving car. Currently, T-mobile and Verizon offer text-blocking for an additional monthly fee. When the phone is in a moving car, the signal for receiving or sending text messages is disabled. There is also the possibility that text blocking technology will evolve to allow a phone to recognize whether it’s being carried by a passenger or a driver.

**this article is incorrect. verizon does not have a no text block app. NHTSA phase 2 regulations will be applied to cellphone manufacturers/carriers. imo i believe the NHTSA will first recommend then regulate that all cellphones that are available to be sold will have to have a text bock app preinstalled

imo insurance industry will be jumping in soon

**CAR, we are in the eye of the storm
