With no bid support and just "ask slapping" all you do is create a wide spread and open the door for market makers shorting the stock at the ask looking to make money on the nice spread. This is not a way to "play the Jefferson's opening musical score".
Move the bid up first before "ask slapping" otherwise it will be all for not.
