#4018 RE: jbennett53 #4011

If what you said is true , i would beleive it. I will provide my version of the "facts" I still do not trust Saddam or Bush. I can not provide answers, because I have no idea why Saddam actively supports terrorism
or Saudi ARabia supports terrrorism even to a tiny degree. ( actually the stock answer is that they want to)I am reading a book about Pakistan. In 1989 it was identical to Lawrence of ARabia. they have blood feuds and tribes. So does Iraq and Saudia Arabia. the only common bond is islam, and that is ver very different from place to place, from secular to fundamental. In pakistan, the student who once supported the soviet regime in Afganistan are now part of the islamic movement

in 1977 the club of rome said the world would run out of oil by 2001- 2010.

In fact the greatest population growth is only in china ( less) India (median) and mostly: moslem countries and south of the border. ergo said Iran has 50 million people under 20, and 20 million above. And this with 20 years of war. The population of the middle east and africa have increased to a much greater extent than the US and Europe, which are under negetive or just slightly increasing population growth. So if it is a war to get resources for a dwindling population, it does not make sense.
To use Terrorism to obtain the resources of the West does make sense.

you can check this yurseldf by going to the WHO and US world population sites

In the eighties and early 90's new seismic mapping techniques led to a good hole rate of 70% in the sea south of Louisiana. Oil was discovered in Norway, England and South America, the caspian sea and elsewhere. The global Oil reserves are actually higher than ever before. The 30 dollar price is completly artificial. the real price is closer to 12 to 15 dollars a barrel.

Dont you think it strange that for exactly 8 years after the gulf war, oil was 11 bucks a barrel and then shot up to 30 in less than three years? This had nothing to do with demand. Its political, its a way of paying back the saudis or exxon.

Gas prices are also totally artificial and there is excess gas supply in north America. Gas is still burnt off at the well pump because it is too cheap to collect it.

Solar is close to 2 dollars a kilowatt installed, and amortized over 20 years with state rebates totalling up to 70%, you can dramatically reduce your electric bill.

Energy is not the reason for the war. Imagine a benevolent Saddam, there would be no problem with energy. The non benvolence of Saddam is as much the cause of the problem as the fear of Bush. Think of a way to change Saddam, dont just rail about America. There is no way the US could go to war if Saddam does not agree. Lying to a UN inspector is not the way to establish international acceptance
