I've sold real estate. Empty houses lose value. Pipes freeze. Without utilities, mold and mildew grow.Sump pumps back up. Carpet, flooring, walls, and ceilings are damaged. Houses start to stink. Windows are broken. Vandals and thieves damage property. Copper is ripped out of walls. Anything, of value, is stolen. Siding is peeled off.
I don't have an answer. Banks don't have the network to own, maintain, and rent houses. Still, empty houses lose value.
