Just to add to SN post this is on the front page of that link

The traditional domain of the Shoshone people stretches across much of the Great Basin. The area is currently impacted by more than three dozen large gold mines, and Crescent Valley is now the epicenter for gold exploration in the lower 48 states.

In the past 40 years, some $26 billion in gold has been extracted from the Western Shoshone lands. Now that the biggest gold deposit on record has been discovered in this area, groundwater loss and contamination, as well as the destruction of significant cultural sites, threaten Shoshone and non-native communities.

This is the main reason NDEP is being so tough on PCFG and the GeoTube Liners. Now we know more about why this is so important and why NDEP is not playing around when it comes to using the Water in this area.

When you exit I-80 onto Highway 306, you curl down a sizable hill and there's a huge parking lot on the east full of vehicles. People drive in from other communities and car pool to the various mining operations.

Sitting by 306, there is a constant stream of ore haulers, vendors, maintenance crews, government and supplier vehicles. It's the middle of nowhere and the capital county of the U.S. gold operations at the same time.
