#408 RE: McBeanburger #407

Hi McBean, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. In Mes's case, make that three in the bush.

MES has a very very prospective offshore block. They need to take a few tranches off thier convertible debenture to fill their coffers, but I suspect the better way to go would be to farmout 75
% to one of the Who's Who, ringing their doorbell.

I suspect that AOI/Lundin picked up the two pieces MES left behind, but if not them, others are in line.

The people of Puntland have got to have much love for AOI. Afterall, Puntland's greatest wish is to drop the "failed" nation status, and it's the efforts of AOI and RRL that's putting pulling up the bootstraps on the indigenous natives.

I have read Hirsi's article on some of the older clansmen concerns, but i think that will get smoothed over. Once oil gets extracted, everyone will be happier.

I feel that oil the oil companies and the gov in Puntland will be transparant, and the proceeds of the sold oil will be split fairly.

" Smoothing Over Relations with Dharoor Communities
During his recent trip to Qardho, the central hub of Puntland’s Karkaar Province and the Dharoor Valley communities to the north, President Abdirahman Mohamed Mahamud stated through radio address that he was in the area to smooth relations between feuding clans.

The tricky part here is that the clan that is most central to the current reconciliation process has not been involved in any bloody feuds for years. Meanwhile, the communities further north into the Dharoor basin were locked in heated conflict until recently, but the government didn’t make efforts to reconcile them until drilling was getting under way at the Shabeel-1 well.

This tranquil community that Faroole is helping to mend fences with is a heavyweight in both regional and national politics, and they dominate the city of Qardho as well as the greater Karkaar and Bari provinces. While Puntland has been busy addressing the grievances of the smaller communities closer to the drilling site further north of Qardho, the administration didn’t take special steps at the time to address the dominant clan of the Dharoor Valley’s outlying Karkaar Province, whom former Puntland president Mohamed Muuse Hirsi belongs.

Geographically, Qardho is quite a ways south of the Shabeel-1 well and the planned Shabeel-North well as it is not physically within the boundaries of the Dharoor basin, but the town sits on the main highway in the Karkaar Province and is an important stepping stone to ensuring freedom of movement for future operations.

With Faroole during the trip were his top security chiefs, including Interior Minister ‘Ilkajir’ and the head of Puntland’s security forces Said Dheere. The ongoing reconciliation process has so far brought about smiles on both sides, and without problems between Puntland and the local clan.

A minor protest by young students did take place in the city center yesterday, but it did not affect the negotiations between Puntland and the clan elders.
