great essay. he forgot to include the use of our public lands as sources of pure water, as many of the headwaters of our aquifers are on publicly owned lands, and water and water rights are a huge resource and are more valuable to the public good every day. Preventing development on those areas helps insure our future water supplies.
Wide open lands are our heritage. And we spend less on maintaining them than we spend propping up foreign military powers such as israel or pakistan.
