#28771 RE: D.inkie #28758

D.inkie--"how many units will be going into autos coming off the assembly line in 2003???

IMHO All new cars."

GM, Ford, HONDA, Toyota, Volvo, Mitsubishi-all will be carrying factory installed Eclipse units? geez, can i take that to the bank; i guess i better go buy more edig shares if that's the case; what a fool i have been; please accept my apology- wish you all the best from
Ring, Rang, Rong

PS --so if all factory models will be carrying the Eclipse, i guess logically it follows that there will be NO aftermarket sales--by george, i think i've got it!!

D.inkie ...

Jimee11 ... according to this ...

" I keep close tabs on Telematics (being in the backyard of the "Big 3"), and consistently hear "2-3 years". We shall see."

... it appears that you are still confused about Fujitsu Ten`s target market. Perhaps this will help ...

"Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten is a manufacturer of mobile audio components for OEM and aftermarket applications and motoronics for OEM. Eclipse, the aftermarket brand of Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten, is a full line of award-winning high-performance mobile audio products including CD players, cassette decks, amplifiers, and speakers. Eclipse products are distributed exclusively through the specialty retail channel of distribution. Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten is based in Torrance, CA."

"The unit is ... "Controlled by the indash Eclipse radio, and Ecom Voice recognition system." ... That doesn`t sound like our VoiceNav and there`s no mention of wireless protocol [not really needed in that the drive/MP3 player is removable and USB 2.0 compatible], but not too bad for this first generation device, don`t you think ? I don`t believe Fujitsu Ten would go ahead with this audio component if the market didn`t already exist, so the only question that remains is, how successful will they be in penetrating it ? Also, the way RP explained it to me, this is just the first step with e.Digital assisting Fujitsu Ten down the "path" on their way to eventually becoming an "OEM" for future factory-installed Infotainment and Telematics products.

Methiinks you`re rushing things a bit, JMHOFWIW
