Restricted shares cannot be traded...on the public market true. However you can have the legend removed with a bit of bureaucratic back pain, and then trade them.

Risk believes your restricted shares are potentially worthless and cannot be sold since no broker would allow it but others feel you received them into your broker account electronically and have no issue selling them once the restriction is removed.
