Both are great, but I prefer Marketrader. More simple but has everything I need.

Pro IMO is the best but if for some reason you don't want as much info then the other way may be for u, some people don't like etrade but I love the pro program

To RSPennyStocks: Ahhh e-Trade's Market Trader platform. Brings back pleasant memories. I used it years ago before moving on to e-Trade Pro platform. It's a very excellent platform if you're not going to be interested in day-trading. Also, it's got an absolutely excellent L2 ... and the whole shebang is FREE. You simply can't beat it (not even Scottrade gives you free L2).

But that's about where similarities end. The difference between Market Trader and E-Trade Pro are as different as night and day. That's perhaps why you pay $99 per month to use the latter platform (assumming you fail to make at least 30 trades per quarter).

If it's simply free L2 that you're seeking, then Market Trader is the excellent choice. If, however, you really don't want to open another brokerage account simply to get free L2, then you might look at the free L2 offered by QuoteTracker (if you can stand the barrage of ads).

Be well.
