It is new innovation of old technology. It's like saying a hybrid car is new technology. It is not new. In both WWI and WWII submarines were engine on the surface and battery under the surface. These are all modifications to meet new requirements. Steam piston engines are old old technology. Check out the movie "Sand Pebbles" with Steve McQueen this is aboard a vessel steam piston engine. I was personally aboard a steam electric 4000 hp but it was steam that ran a turbine that turned a generator that powered an electric motor. 15 months powerful and reliable. I am just saying the misuse of words annoys me. Innovation verses invention even the patent office says the two words are commonly miss used. Both are representative of great things.
