"Do people really think this kind of thing helps Wencor, e.Digital's customer?"

the plot thickens ... so then ... what if the shareholders
that do this are really not shareholders ... now we have
the twilight zone ... are the execs in high places smart
enough to realize this is possible. Are you aware of
that possibility?

The following post on agoracom is nothing less than a desperate all-out character assassination of what appears to be a very distinguished team at IMS and is specifically directed toward the chairman of the company, Joe Renton.

I have so much to say about this post and dozens of other agoracom posts adding to it and also insulting Brent Wood of Wencor and Brendan Gallagher of Inflight Online that I didn't find the time today to put all of my comments into one or two cohesive posts.

I hope to find time to get back to this tomorrow, but in the meantime I wanted to post this travesty here, which was heralded on agoracom as well "well said."

I posted some comments about it yesterday: http://www.ragingbull.lycos.com/mboard/boards.cgi?board=EDIG&read=1227780 and have more comments to come. However it's bedtime on the West Coast.

If one reads between the lines it tells all.

As you all know, for many moons I have been expounding on the merits of the PEA and IMS. It started out as a converted Lap-top with closed ports for security. IT REMAINS THAT WAY TODAY....Of course it has added enhancements but it is still a third rate product. That has been proven by its 'WIDELY SUCCESSFUL, WORLD RENOWN, USED BY UNTOLD NUMBERS OF AIRLINES AND COMPLETELY ACCEPTED BY ALL CONTENT PROVIDERS WHO ARE CONVINCED THE SECURITY IT PROVIDES THEM IS TOTAL' acceptance.

Wencor wants control. It bought APS for that control. It may have thought it could shuffle EDig out the door by not using our company for the Digesystem EDig developed. It may, and I just say may, tried some method to gain control over EDig and failed to at this point. It tried the same thing with IMS and obviously failed.

Business wise, I do not think that is the bottom line. In my mind when a company purchases another it does so for the good that purchase will do for it. (Patents, trademarks, products, standing in its field, product desireability, filling a niche in a market it does not not have)

Way down the list is its management team as a reason for a purchase. Did Wencor purchase APS because Bill Boyer was at the helm? Or did it purchase APS due to the fact that it had the Digeplayer? Would Wencor attempt a purchase of EDig soley because of ATUL? Or because the company has the ability, through its entire engineering staff, to create products like the Digeplayer and Digesystem? And EDig's patents? (by the way does IMS have any patents on its products?? I ask that question because I don't really know and want an answer)??

Wencor did not attempt a purchase of IMS because Joe Renton had a 'TEAM' of experienced IFE people on hand with the ability of running 'day to day' operations FOR Wencor.

WENCOR WANTS CONTROL'

Do you think after the purchase of IMS Brent Wood was going to say to Joe Renton, 'have a ball' 'go to it' 'have fun' 'make sure you give us a report on what you are doing every now and then' HOGWASH......

It tried to purchase IMS for what it could bring to Wencor and it wasn't Joe Renton. Somewhere Wencor was sold a bill of goods that IMS had a product (etc) Wencor needed. (Most likely by Joe Renton, this guy is a real sleeze bag not exactly known for his humility and truthfulness.

If Wencor owned IMS, the products, the engineering, etc...if a Joe Renton were to clog up the works he would 'GET HIS ASS KICKED OUT THE DOOR' Likewise for any individual within that company.

WENCOR DID NOT TRY TO BUY IMS FOR ITS 'EXPERIENCED IFE TEAM'
After the purchase it could have changed that 'team' to fit its mold of what Wencor's business plan was, AT ANY TIME.

Brent Wood cited 'irrecognizeable differences' as to the reason of the breakup. That sounds to me as if he was the one to 'kabosh' the deal, not Joe Renton.

I think he found out what a third rate company he was getting involved in. I think he found out what a less than truthful sleezebag Joe Renton was. I think he found out that Joe Renton saw this deal as a way to achieve legitmacy for his IMS crew with a 'sugar daddy' named Wencor. I think he found out those numberous 'content providers that Joe Renton has stated 'fully accept the PEA for its security, DON'T....I think he found out those numerous airlines IMS has in its fold number just one or two. I think he found out the many PR's put out by IMS, touting its many many achievement COMPLETELY LACK VERACITY. 'IE IMS seems to have no shortage of suitors to continue with its DEVELOPMENT work...(key word there, Developement) What' product not quite up to snuff yet?...huh Joe Renton? AND BY THE WAY WHERE ARE ALL THOSE NEW SUITORS? You might have to change the front doors on the IMS offices so many of them are knocking it down to get in...

Brent Wood may have also asked the question to Joe Renton,

WHERE IS AMERICAN AIRLINES???

That name seems to have dropped off the lexicon of Joe Rentons lips...and from everywhere also. I also have not heard American Airlines touting their upcoming use of the PEA....Just what going on JOe???

'The collapse of the IMS/Wencor deal means that the competitive landscape in the handheld landscape remains unchanged, with Wencor/APS leading the field with Digeplayer and developing the semi-embedded Digesystem. But IMS is hard on its heels with the PEA which has attracted a number of airline orders this year and which is seen by many as have a superior content supply infrastructure' etc....

DOES ANYONE OUT THERE READ THE ABOVE PARAGRAPH THE WAY I DO??? IT SAYS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING....

The competitive landscape...huh? Wencor at least 15 airlines,IMS 1, thats one, that I know of and I seem to remember its in India somewhere... with a company that has 5 airplanes. (Might be wrong on that) Where and who are those airline orders that IMS says its has...(Almost eeery sounding,,,,Robert Speaks 'soon', and we 'expect'...etc.)

How about some names of the 'content providers' Joe. In the entire time you have been running off the mouth about this one subject, which is the core of the entire IFE business you have not provided the public with ONE NAME....Yet you still tout your 'accepted by all, security measures'

I think Brent Wood finally discovered all the facts and not the hype from Joe Renton and that's why IMS is looking for a new SUGAR DADDY...They will not find one, IMO, and the PEA WILL BE NO COMPETITION FOR THE DIGEPLAYER....a fact, NOT JUST MY OPINION
