Clearly the disparity between rich and poor is escalating at an unbelievable rate and is greater than ever. I suspect the middle class will be hit very hard when the housing bubble breaks (or deflates). Most will survive it because they are not overextended. The ones that don't will become part of the poor and the disparity will be greater than ever IMO.

The whole theory of disparity between rich and poor (also implying a weak middle class) is one that has been around a long time - ever since 1929 when the disparity was at record highs until the 1990's and at an all-time high now.

This cannot be good for the economy long term. But, then, of all the things going on, what is?
