PV makes a splash

Newcomer PV Enterprises of the US has bought its first cruiseship for a Korean charter and promises more deals to come.

The Florida company said it had put a down payment on a 27,000-gt vessel, which it did not name.

The ship can accommodate 1,200 passengers and 600 crew.

It will be used initially to house guests at the Yeosu Expo 2012 in Korea for four months.

This deal will bring in revenue of $10.34m, plus estimated on-board takings of $3m.

Chairman Peter Villiotis, a former Regency Cruises executive, said: "This is a first step and a major step in creating a global shipping company that has been promised to our investors.

“The management team is presently working on several more acquisitions and we look forward to sharing this information with our shareholders as soon as documents are signed."
