Bowser...I tuned into this line from article you cited; "...what we have found in blast effects and ballistic effects tests is that you need a layered approach." Layering high hard steel, and air gap,a tier of aluminum, with ballistic proof fabric coating on the back to catch the spall.
Sounds like BI is right on track and compliments what they are looking for. I would believe Mike H.is not yet familiar with Bork system. I trust someone from BI is alerting him or his staff. Working with the beauracracy of the the military...not cohesive or up to date on latest....that's the beauty of the internet!

Bowser - one more excerpt that I caught in the review:

"JLTV, in its early iteration, was estimated to cost more than $500,000 a piece. The new price target is $230,000. “To meet the limited budget, I don’t see a lot of changes in the way we are currently armoring our vehicles, unless industry is able to bring down the cost per square foot or cost per pound of nano-composite type materials.” The desired cost would be comparable to the price of specialty metals such as high-hard steel, rolled homogeneous armor steel or alumina."

Nano-technology...Sounds familiar to me. Gotta wonder if Kryron costs are even being considered or does the military "know" they are too high.
