#27917 RE: Tinroad #27915

Tin, I guess some could have said it - I would not have. There was nothing about dataplay that ever gave me a sense of excitement that it was the next big thing. True, it was neat, I am sure it appealed to tech guys, but to a lay person like me it seemed like a lot of what-ifs, a lot of over head, and a lot of dependencies. My impression was, OK, if it catches on and every big company supports it and all the content providers are on board it will be huge, but I'll contain myself until it does.

Some of the same contingencies apply to EDIG, but convergence seems to be taking place. Also, they have more than one footprint. Last, as a lay person, what they are doing, and particularly in the IFE and autoinfotainment areas, makes logical sense and creates a certain amount of excitement. It's just not as complicated as dataplay.

Also, since the contracts are evidently already signed (my interpretation) I think we can say this is really happening, whereas dataplay never got to that point.

As far as I am concerned, all EDIG needs to do vis a vis APS is the following.
