We are talking religious conflicts that range back to the biblical periods all the way back to Abraham. These are not your typical conflicts, border wars, or power grabs.

This is much more and must not be underestimated.

mayhem, I think you are right on target. This is largely posturing and boosting the bargaining positions by the various parties to the conflict. Changes of the dispute erupting into war are slim to none, imho.
