Speaking of $$$$. The content below is a post, question, and reply from a thread off of Nat Geo's site. A retired costume designer says they would value the silk around at least $1000.00 per yard. I know anyone can post mis information, but at face value it's an interesting insight to the valuation of this new textile from someone who dealt with fabrics for a living.

03:05 PM on 01/07/2012 No less than $1000 yd. it depends on how many threads per inch (the weave) , is it dyed or natural color, a lot of factors go into the price. Has it been treated to act as a "garment" fabric.
I don't think they are intentionally trying to depress the pps but their aggregate flipping definitely pulls the rug out from all the rest of us. Keep patting them on their backs and encouraging them.
