Undifferentiated eSCs can turn into anything else, but they also create tumors. One of ACTC's best features is they can create 100% differentiated cells, so no chance of tumor generation exists. The stem cells being injected are differentiated, and should only turn into RPE cells. What *may* happen is that some rods and cones are still viable, and they get 'rescued'.
