i knew Rob quite well at Genentech. He was a regulatory affairs executive, mostly working to manage a large department. As a department head, he had little direct interaction with the FDA in his last 10 yrs. He is not a distinguished scientist, but he does have a distinguished record in regulatory affairs and is well known. By no means does that make him capable of choosing a company to work for based on early stage products, and he does not risk putting his reputation on the line by going to a place like PPHM who is willing to pay him megabucks to advertise his name. He has already a reputation and probably close to $50M from genentech stock.

Dew is right about this situation. Hiring a industry heavyweight does not signal that the company has a good future or a good drug. This should be on the list of biotech newbie mistakes. I also read that pR and it is terrible. Makes you wonder who wrote it and who hired them and what qualifications they have. PPHM has long had issues and has never done anything to draw my attention in a positive manner
